I’m Successful… So Why Am I Still Performing — and at What Cost?
Last Saturday during my Empowerment Session, something was said that has stayed with me ever since:
“I’m successful… and yet I’m still performing. Still chasing. But what am I really chasing — and at what cost?”
That landed. In fact, it echoed. Because so many women — especially high-achieving, heart-led, minority women in leadership — are asking that same question in quiet moments between meetings, after milestone wins, or on the drive home from another long day.
I know that place intimately. Years ago, I had the title, the salary, the corner office. On paper, I was thriving. But internally? I was performing — constantly calibrating, proving, perfecting. Always trying to hold it all together. I was succeeding, yes… but at the cost of my peace, my voice, and eventually, my clarity.
That’s why I created Shaping Pathways Inc. — not just to coach women through leadership transitions, but to help them come home to themselves. To stop performing and start leading from a place that’s rooted, real, and unapologetically aligned with who they truly are.
This isn’t about abandoning ambition. It’s about reclaiming ownership of it.
It’s about asking:
At Saturday’s event, I saw women begin to let go of performance and step into something deeper. They spoke words like peace, presence, and purpose. They talked about wanting to feel whole, not just seen. And those moments? That’s where empowerment lives.
So today, I want to offer you a simple reflection:
